Jason Kidd: Russell Westbrook ‘plays at one speed, and that’s fast and hard’

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd believes Russell Westbrook’s aggressiveness is comparable to that of a Hall of Famer in a different sport.

Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo knew much of the focus in Tuesday’s game would be on his matchup with Westbrook. But Antetokounmpo spent much of the first quarter on the bench with two fouls, and the Bucks struggled from the 3-point line, opening 1-of-14.

“I’m not trying to get into ‘who versus who,'” Antetokounmpo said before the game. “My mindset is getting going tonight and helping my team win. And us playing hard and getting better. … We just got to trust our game plan. Do what we do as a team, even though, of course, they have a lot of weapons, they have a lot of superstars. We just got to trust one another.”

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett added another line to his record-setting résumé as a Buckeye on Saturday.

Barrett’s second-quarter touchdown toss to Terry McLaurin was the 91st of his Ohio State career, and he passed former Purdue quarterback Drew Brees for the most touchdown passes ever thrown in the Big Ten.

Barrett went on to throw three more TDs on the day, as the sixth-ranked Buckeyes rallied for a 39-38 triumph against the No. 2 Nittany Lions.

“I just did my job and tried to do the best for my team,” Barrett told Fox Sports after the game.

Barrett, a senior, has thrown for 25 scores and only one interception this season. The record-breaker went to McLaurin on a 14-yard slant route for the Buckeyes’ first touchdown Saturday.blues-020
